The Projects

Central Queensland Power (CQP)

Central Queensland Power (CQP) is a dedicated RES development platform established to deliver a coordinated portfolio of renewable energy projects across Central Queensland. Originally formed as a joint venture, CQP is now fully aligned within the RES group, enabling stronger strategic integration, streamlined decision‑making, and long‑term investment certainty.

CQP’s portfolio approach allows RES to plan and develop generation and storage assets at the scale required to replace ageing coal generation, support industrial decarbonisation in the region, and deliver reliable, affordable clean energy. The program considers the complexities of the Central Queensland grid, future transmission upgrades, and the emerging clean‑energy demands of industries in Rockhampton, Gladstone and surrounding areas.

A Greener Future

CQP is committed to preserving the environment and minimising potential impacts throughout the Project's lifespan. By replacing electricity generated from other sources such as fossil fuel power stations, renewable energy can lead to an overall reduction in Queensland’s carbon emissions.

Powering more than 250,000 homes each year

Contributing to the Queensland Renewable Energy Target of 50% renewable electricity by 2030.

Utilising existing access tracks and road reserves

The Project design prioritises the use of previously cleared areas, which account for 40% of the total project disturbance footprint.

Offsetting 780,000 tonnes of CO2 annually

That’s the equivalent of planting 18 million trees every year.

Minimal impact on the productivity of traditional farming

With a footprint of less than 6% of the site area, the Project allows for the continuation of farming activities.
